The CE4Y Devil-8 Mini (Aluminum) is an ultra-lightweight, compact variable-friction rappel device engineered specifically for fast-and-light canyoneering, ultra-thin technical lines, and aquatic exploration. Sized roughly 20% smaller than the standard Devil-8, this Swiss-designed tool is optimized for modern skinny ropes.
Unlike its heavier steel counterpart, this variant focuses heavily on weight reduction without sacrificing performance. Machined from premium aerospace-grade aluminum and protected by a robust matte-black hard-anodized finish, it provides high heat dissipation and smooth friction control over rapid, technical descents.
Key Product Features
- Ultralight Aluminum Form Factor: Weighing in at an incredible 96 grams, this featherweight descender strips bulk off your harness, making it ideal for deep backcountry canyon approaches where every ounce counts.
- On-the-Fly Friction Adjustment: The distinctive staggered horns allow you to seamlessly wrap, lock off, or step up rope friction mid-rappel to perfectly match changing waterfall flows or vertical drops.
- Symmetrical Lifetime Extension: The perfectly symmetrical layout means you can rotate and flip the device top-to-bottom once standard wear surfaces show friction use, effectively doubling the lifespan of your gear.
- Rigid Carabiner Capture O-Ring: Includes an integrated rubber O-ring insert in the anchor loop. This tightly grips your locking carabiner to create a stable, non-shifting setup that eliminates dangerous cross-loading and prevents accidental drops during rigging changes.
